WATER (2021)

16min, Video

A humanoid wants to become human. It must show its worth and gain approval from a group of hooded authority figures. While displaying memory clips from a shared past with a companion, the authority figures measure its material worth by tasting the extracted liquid from its body. The film is a narrative, experimental short ruminating on the relationship between immigrants and humanoids, drawing from early Japanese Cyberpunk and essays linking robots to Asian American identity.
